We don't expect the paths away from the centre of the village to have had any attention from the local Council even when, as now, they're nastily slippery with a thaw having been followed by a further freeze and, now, a much more serious thaw.
However, the importance of pedestrians is graphically described where....
....a pavement runs along the side of a major road, the A9. Here, the Council, with its large fleet of gritting trucks, has done a good job on the road but rather at the expense of pedestrians.
As we approached the entrance to our local hospital, as one would expect, the pavement leading into the village has been treated with salt and is now safe.
After surviving several days without a paper we decided to walk in to the Co-Op this morning. It wasn't a pleasant experience, except that, for the first time in several days, we had a good, long walk.
Going down to the village we had the A9 traffic coming from behind us so had to stick to the pavement but on our way back we made much faster progress by availing ourselves of the low traffic volume on a Sunday morning and....
....walking along the A9.
