Coastal Hunter

Sometimes, something happens which brings back a very happy memory, in this case of a summer's day on Ardnamurchan, the peninsula on the west coast of Scotland which was our home for over twenty years.

Being so remote, and with Scotland's wonderful 'right to roam' laws, we were free to walk miles into the hills, where there were few fences and spectacular scenery, often without seeing anyone else all day. On 8th July 2015 we were climbing the western flanks of Ben Hiant and paused to look back along the Ardnamurchan coast to the small community in which we lived; on the left is the Sound of Mull.

Immediately below us a new fish farm was in the process of being commissioned. It would bring a dozen or so jobs to the community so was widely welcomed.

One of the two work boats busying around the salmon cages was....

....Coastal Hunter and, from our vantage point, I took several pictures of her which, along with many other pictures of boats and ships passing through the Sound, in due course went on to the Kilchoan Diary.

A few weeks ago I was approached by Coastal Hunter's owners, Rottendam-based Acta Marine, with a request that they be allowed to use one of the pictures in a forthcoming brochure, which wasn't a problem as the Diary's photos have always been copyright free. However, it was very good of Acta Marine....

....to send me a copy of the brochure.
