Wedding Anniversary 1991

In 1991 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by throwing a party in our back garden and inviting a cross-section of people who had been important to us through those years. So my mother and Gill's parents came, along with our four children, but we were thrilled that people we had known abroad were able to come, including....

....Pat and Jeff Armstrong who had been teachers with us at Bernard Mizeki College, Rhodesia, in the late 1960s, and....

....Rick and Irene Canton who had been with us at Excelsior School in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1973/4.

Other guests included my uncle Sandy, who was also my godfather, and Gill's sister Pauline and her husband Gareth. Pauline and Sandy represent the artistic side of the family, Sandy with his musicals and Pauline with her poetry.

The Essex contingent are best represented by Douglas Watson, left, who lived in Maldon and whom we had met through our children attending the same primary school, and Cliff whom I had met through my work with the teachers' union, the NAS/UWT. Douglas worked for a company which made tents - hence the kind loan of a marquee.

The party continued until very late in the night - or was it early morning? - and, while we would like to think that everyone enjoyed themselves, someone certainly did.
