By Golspie standards, today was a hot day, though a brisk west-southwesterly breeze, almost 100% cloud cover, and the occasional dash of rain all helped put a dampener on the day. Of more importance is that the continual cloud cover over the last few nights has destroyed any hope of seeing Comet NEOWISE, which is now visible if you can see the night sky.
The comet is an unexpected treat, having seemed unlikely when it was first identified to be visible to the naked eye, but it can now be seen - even better with binoculars or a telescope - in the dark sky to the north-northwest. Which raises another problem: with Golspie's position so far north, the sky is still light until well after ten at night.
There's a picture of the comet over Stonehenge on NASA's site here.
