The Roe Deer's Child

We were lucky to spot her amongst the long grass and foxgloves on the far side of Loch Unes in Ferry Wood and were surprised when, instead of running quickly away, she headed along the edge of the water....

....stopping and turning and then looking across at us before....

....moving a short distance further away and to our right. The reason for her reluctance to flee only became evident when....

....she came into slightly more open ground and her calf caught her up.

I think she was hoping we would go away and, perhaps, we should have done, leaving her in peace, but we didn't and were rewarded....

....with one final view of the roe deer hind and her child.
