Our Rarer Garden Birds

According to the results of 2022's Big Garden Birdwatch, goldfinches are the seventh most common bird in British gardens, yet we're seeing very few - and then, when we do see one, it turns up in evening's half-light and has what appears to be a broken wing.

We've also been seeing very few siskins but this handsome male appeared in the garden today keeping a lookout while his lady enjoyed the banquet available at our feeders - thanks to Mark for the picture.

We've also been seeing some greenfinches,  probably the pair which are nesting in the trees beyond the back of the garden where we hear them calling. This is the male who is far too busy feeding to worry....

....about his lady's safety.
