Above Dunrobin Castle

The northwestern sky is now bright at 10.30pm, clouds permitting, and will get brighter as we progress towards midsummer's day, and the weather is at last looking up, with....

....a sunny morning first thing that took us up the hill above Dunrobin Castle, along a track called Queen's Drive. This section is rather depressing as the estate has allowed the rhododendrons to proliferate, joined by generous amounts of gorse.

At the track's highest point there is a break in the forestry which allows good views southwards, this part being across Loch Fleet towards some snow-covered heights which, as best as I can read from the map, are around and include Beinn Wyvis.

As we came home past Dunrobin Castle, now open again for visitors, a flag was flying above the entrance. Disappointingly, it wasn't the saltire indicating the current duke's sudden support for Scottish independence but the heraldic flag of the dukes of Sutherland.
