Battle of the Robins

This is the garden robin. As far as we can tell, he owns all our garden which, because of the numerous bird feeders, must be pretty valuable robin real estate.

This is the graveyard robin. He owns our end of the town burial ground which probably isn't particularly productive for robin needs. He has, therefore, been straying across the road into the garden robin's territory, more and more and, at times, very brazenly recently.

This has resulted in him being chased by the garden robin. At first he left the garden quickly but, as time and the squabbling went on, he was increasingly reluctant to go back across the road.

The showdown came the other day while we were sitting at lunch. The fight was brief and violent, after which both flew off.

What we've noticed since is that we now have two robins in the garden. We're fairly sure that one is the garden robin but, robins being very difficult to tell apart, we're not sure who the other is, though I very much suspect it is the graveyard robin as I haven't seen a robin in the graveyard since the fight.
