We walked the beach from Golspie to Dunrobin Castle this morning, on another misty, damp day, not minding the weather because, for the first time, we found not a single dead bird along the tidelines until, right below the castle....
As I have previously written, sick gannets particularly upset me as I have seen how beautiful they are, how skilled in flight, how spectacular in their dives into the water to hunt fish. All we could hope is that some of these sick ones survive to form the nucleus of a future population which has some immunity to H5N1.
