When Ports of Call closed we had to find somewhere else as an escape from Kingston and were fortunate enough to be introduced to Blue Mahoe, which was situated on the southeast coast. This was a private resort owned by Richard, a man who had made his money from exporting Jamaican timber, and consisted of three self-catering cottages which one could rent. They were very comfortable and included a maid to do the cooking and housework but it was the other facilities....
....which made the place very special indeed. The pool had a magnificent view across the bay and out to sea so we spent most of our time....
....lazing around it. There was also a tennis court, and people....
....brought other amusements with them. Even with all the cottages occupied it never felt crowded.
Most of the people who came to Blue Mahoe were expatriates like us but with rather better-paid jobs, such as banking and accountancy. For us, it was expensive but well worth the outlay. Our American friend Bob Morris is in the foreground of this picture, with Gill, Lizzie and Katy.
We were introduced to Blue Mahoe by Sandy and Steve whose son, Luke, is seen here taking a shower with Elizabeth. Once hooked, we drove out to Blue Mahoe as often as we could.
