A Coal Tit's Breakfast

This morning's breakfast was a serious matter for one of our coal tits. It started with sunflower kernels dispensed from a feeder which is designed to be exclusive to the tit family. It then moved quickly on to the second course....

....Highland Wholefood peanuts - nothing but the best for our birds. That it had to move quickly and, therefore, probably mar the full enjoyment of its food, was because it knew, as we all do, that around ten o'clock the sparrows, in their dozens, finally arrive, ravenous for their breakfast.  We assume this late appearance is because they like their morning sleep-in, but it's a boon for the other birds.

So the coal tit's third course, chosen from a top-quality mix of 'No Mess' seeds, was even quicker as this is where the sparrows head once they arrive - and they clean it up in minutes.
