The Egg Walk

We've never allowed a bit of weather to get in the way of our daily walk particularly when, as today, our walk up to Backies had a serious objective. It's a matter of being properly dressed.

The snow has been coming in short, fairly regular showers since last night, not enough to settle at Golspie's level but, while the gritted roads were clear, some of....

....the tracks higher up were beginning to accumulate a crust.

The objective was this croft house along Queen's Drive where, along with a post box, there's a small wooden shed into which has been built....

....an old fridge, and in here there are, if we're lucky, some excellent eggs.

Through the winter the hens have been off the lay but the lengthening days must be having a positive effect as there were plenty available today, so we took a dozen and walked....

....back down the road towards Golspie as yet another snow shower blew in from the west-southwest.

The eggs really are rather special, well worth the walk, some of them being so large they were bursting out of the egg boxes.
