April Easterlies

The run of truly miserable, wet weather continues here in the north of Scotland but at least through yesterday we had relatively light easterlies and only occasional rain showers, a calm enough day for....

....the oystercatchers to feel they could take a nap on the beach. Not that it was warm enough - I think the temperature hit 5C by lunchtime - for me to contemplate....

....what I would dearly like to have done - sit on one of the benches along the track to Dunrobin Castle and contemplate the view, life and the chances of some warmer weather.

Not much changed overnight except that the wind speed increased and, in response, we had a heavy surf breaking against the sea wall at the southern end of the Golspie promenade and cold bullets of raindrops soaking those few souls who ventured out, mostly dog walkers. It's certainly not weather for the local rowing club and....

....none of the local fishing boats has been moved from their winter quarters at the head of the jetty.

We have an interesting forecast for the next 24 hours, by the end of which the temperature is supposed to have risen to 14C as the wind veers into the south.

  1. Hopefully you will enjoy some of the warmer breeze we are receiving here in Devon from the south. It brought with it the first Blackcap two days earlier than last year, singing his loud melodious song.
