While there was little in the way of wildlife in this main pool of the loch there was more to be seen in the channel which connects it to the sea, including large numbers of....
....eider, mostly this year's juveniles, and........a small gaggle of greylag geese.The speed with which the tide was rising could be judged by the numbers of seals which, while still basking on a sandbank, were able to keep their noses above water level.Our walk ended at the mouth of the channel, where it opens to the sea. Here we looked across to a beach on the Embo shore which was crowded with terns, with many more in the air above it and still more fishing just offshore. With our good weather continuing, they seem in no hurry to set off south.
