This great black-backed gull had found something rather special on the beach and was very keen that our approach didn't spoil his meal....
....so he set about gobbling it down but....
...found that it was just a wee bit too much of a mouthful to cope with so....
....spat it out again.
However, he was still determined not to lose his meal so picked it up and took to the water, keeping a wary eye on us.
We left him to his meal but we've looked carefully at the pictures and still don't know what it was he was trying to eat.
