We are very fortunate to be able to spend as much time as we like walking around the Golspie area, and even more fortunate that there is so much and such variety to explore. The woodland to the north and west of the town is part of the Sutherland Estate but its many tracks and trails are open to everyone both to walk and bike along. That said, after our recent experience of England where tracks often ended at....
....locked gates or at notices which insisted that the land beyond was private and must not be trespassed on, we are nervous whenever a gate appears. This one is along the forest trail which runs north and northwest from Golspie following the open glen of the Golspie Burn.
The gate does have a chain to hold it closed but it is easily opened, and beyond there is an old track which is begging to be explored, as well as....
....miles of open countryside across which to wander freely. Which leaves us with one problem - do we have the energy to rise to the challenge?
