A Rare Visitor

This hedgehog was making its way very determinedly across the graveyard car park this morning, heading for the road under the watching eye of a jackdaw. The road seemed a bad idea so I moved him to the nearest shrubbery.

The only hedgehogs we've seen in our time in Golspie have been those squashed on the A9, and we haven't seen many of them in ages. This reflects data on the internet, which suggests that hedgehog populations, particularly in the countryside, have 'plummeted'.

At least this one looked in good condition. Perhaps, like the small birds, we should start putting out food to encourage it.
