The Year's First Snow

We woke to the winter's first capping of snow on the beinn, to a cold day with occasional showers mixed with watery sunshine, so we walked....

....along the coast where layers of seaweed have continued to accumulate, brought in, even in today's relatively calm weather, by....

....a steady swell which only appears close to shore, each wave lifting suddenly to tip onto the beach. It isn't just seaweed that's being brought ashore, we have,,,,

....more dead birds appearing, this one yet another of the guillemots though it's very small for the species.

We're forecast for a run of cold weather, with the wind in the northwest bringing snow showers from the Arctic until the end of the week. It's a pretty miserable outlook but it does have a positive side: it 'encourages'....

....the small birds into the garden.
