It had been forecast, and the snow duly arrived, lightly during the night and then much more heavily as we ate breakfast, transforming the countryside for our morning, very careful walk.
Although we had had rain in the previous twenty-four hours last night's low temperatures of -2.5C froze it so, as well as settling on the ground, the snow stuck to everything.
Probably the most remarkable transformation was along the beach where the snow settled just before the tide was low, covering beach and foreshore.
It was all very pretty except....
....if you were on the A9 heading north.
