October in the Highlands is the month of vivid blue skies and contrasting clouds, and of....

....sudden, dark showers. It's the month when the greylags are back in residence, as confused as ever, flying....

....sometimes north and then....

....sometimes, soon after, all the way back south again, as if taking a constitutional between their efforts to wreck some poor farmer's fields.

For us, October in the Highlands is special for it has always been....

....the month of rainbows.
