Sparrowhawk

We spotted this sparrowhawk out of the kitchen window at lunch time today, sitting on the wall surveying a bird-less garden and looking very pleased with itself. It had good cause as, not far away....

....a pile of feathers lay scattered across the lawn.

It wasn't possible to tell which species provided the sparrowhawk's lunch but I'm reasonably confident that it wasn't....

....this new arrival in the garden, a mature robin which seems to have seen off the immature bird we were so pleased to welcome here last Monday.
